The cultural-historical and architectural value of Bohemian cities is very high: besides Prague are for example also Kuna Hora and Cesky Krumlov protected monuments by Unesco. But Prague is the biggest and the most kwown jewel in the crown. Actually the city of Prague is one of huge open air museum for architecture. Prague has more then thousand protected buildings from early Roman style and Baroque till Classicism and Modern Art. Prague was for the first time referred in the ninth century and has developed out of four little cities (Old Town, New Town, Little Town and Hradcany). Prague was prosperous as a city of rulers and because of the trade via the bridge over the Vltava river.
For Cesky Krumlov and Kutna Hora there is a comparable description, but on a much smaller scale. In the direct neighbourhood of Cesky Krumlov is a fourth Unesco-monument, but not a city: Holasovice is a beautiful village with special Baroque farm architecture. It is interesting to compare the Baroque style of the buildings in the cities with those in the village Holasovice.
In this Unesco tour you have the opportunity to visit this four monuments, according to the following schedule:
- Saturday: Arrival in Prague
- Sunday: Lectures about Czech history, culture and architecture
- Monday: Visit to the town of Prague
- Tuesday: Visit to the town of Kutna Hora
- Wednesday: Visit to the village of Holasovice. Afterwards the departure to Cesky Krumlov and among other visits there the attendance to a concert
- Thursday: Visit to the town of Cesky Krumlov
- Friday: Departure to Prague and second day visit there
- Saturday: free shopping day
The Unesco tour will be organised in the same way as the excursions are: as for groups as well as for individuals. The group will participate in the whole weekly program, the individuals can choose which day they are interested in. Because of the costs for guides and translators the price for indiviudals is relatively higher.
The Unesco tour will be organised in the second half of December and in the summer monthes July and August.
